Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop supports MCP servers natively. Once connected, you can manage your Monei account through conversation check balances, send money, pay bills, and sell crypto without leaving Claude.

Setup

Open your Claude Desktop config file. If it does not exist, create it. macOS:

~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Windows:

%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

Add the Monei server to the mcpServers object:

Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

Verify the connection

After restarting, open a new conversation and look for the tools icon. You should see the Monei tools listed there. You can also just ask:

“What is my Monei wallet balance?”

Claude will call the get_wallet tool and return your balance.

What you can do

Once connected, Claude understands financial intent naturally. Some examples:

“Send ₦10,000 to my GTBank account ending in 6789”
“Buy ₦500 Airtel airtime for 08098765432”
“What is the current USDT to naira rate?”
“Sell 50 USDT on Base and send the naira to my Access Bank account”
“Show my last 5 transactions”
“Pay my IKEDC electricity meter 12345678901 for ₦3,000”

Claude will always confirm details with you before executing any transaction and will ask for your transaction PIN when required.

Updating the server

The npx command always pulls the latest version of @mrmonei/mcp-server when Claude Desktop starts. You do not need to manually update.
